Some prayers aren't about changing the situation. They're about changing the way we respond to it.
A frustrating conversation. A family disagreement. A decision that needs to be made. Something somebody said that keeps replaying in our mind.
Our first reaction can be quick. Faith gives us another option: pause long enough to ask God for wisdom.
“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God…” — James 1:5
Wisdom may mean speaking. It may mean waiting. It may mean apologizing even when we'd rather explain ourselves. It may mean realizing that winning an argument isn't nearly as important as protecting a relationship.
A useful prayer for today can be very simple: “Lord, help me respond in a way that looks like You.”
That's a prayer worth carrying into marriages, parenting, friendships, workplaces and family relationships.
Today's takeaway: Before answering something difficult today, give yourself one quiet minute to pray for wisdom first.
Wisdom before words. ✝️
