The Basket That Never Stays Empty

Somewhere in family life, there is a laundry basket that apparently has no bottom. 😂

You wash everything. You fold everything. For approximately seven glorious minutes, you believe you have conquered the laundry. Then somebody walks in carrying an armful of clothes.

Family life can feel like that in a hundred different ways. The dishes return. The shoes migrate away from the door. Someone needs a ride. Someone can’t find the thing that is sitting directly in front of them.

But hidden inside all those repetitive jobs is something worth remembering: we are caring for people, not managing a showroom.

A lived-in home has evidence of the people who live there. There can be a basket of laundry on the couch and still be love in the house. Dinner can be simple and still bring everybody together. Parenting can be exhausting and hilarious at exactly the same time.

Someday the laundry load may be smaller. There’s a good chance we’ll miss some of the people who used to make it so big.
