A table doesn't have to be beautiful to become important.
It can have a scratch down the middle, a chair that doesn't quite match, yesterday's mail pushed to one end, and a serving bowl that has been around longer than anyone remembers.
What matters is what happens around it.
Families celebrate there. They make decisions there. Children tell stories that take fifteen minutes longer than necessary. Someone inevitably reaches across somebody else's plate. Hard conversations happen there too—and sometimes so does forgiveness.
That is part of the heart behind The Fleming Collective.
We believe families are strengthened less by picture-perfect moments and more by repeatedly making room for one another. The same is true for friendship, faith and community.
A family table can be in Oregon, across the country or on the other side of the world. The food and traditions may look completely different, but gathering together is something people everywhere understand.
That's one reason we love learning how other families live: it reminds us that there are countless ways to build a good home.
Sharing Our Family With Yours means there's always room for another story at the table.
Reader question: What is one conversation, meal or tradition you remember from the table you grew up around?
The table doesn't have to match. The people just have to come. 🤎
